What is Normal at Injection Sites
- Swelling
- Tenderness
- Bruising
- Small lumps
- Redness
What to do to Improve Comfort
- Apply ice packs wrapped in a clean cloth for 10-15 minutes at a time.
- Sleep on your back with head elevated to minimize swelling.
- Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water.
- Use Arnica gel or tablets to reduce bruising. Take Tylenol (acetaminophen) for discomfort.
Things to Avoid for 24 hours
- No lipstick, gloss, or makeup on lips.
- No alcohol (increases bruising).
- Avoid salty, spicy, or very hot foods.
- No strenuous exercise.
Things to Avoid for 48 hours
- No saunas
- No hot tubs
- No steam rooms
Things to Avoid for 2 weeks
- Dental work
- Facials or facial massages
- Straws
- Smoking or vaping (delays healing)
- Flying if possible (pressure can worsen swelling)
Contact us if you notice:
- Coldness in the lips.
- Blistering or skin changes.
- Severe pain or white/blue patches on the lips.
- Sudden significant swelling or bruising on one side.
- Signs of infection (fever, pus, red streaks, or worsening pain).
